About WhyteHouse

Since 2009, one belief has guided us:

children learn best when the process feels joyful.

WhyteHouse began in Sungai Ara, Penang, in 2009 with just three students. The early years were challenging, but our belief stayed clear: quality early childhood education matters for the next generation.

Our story

From a humble 2,000 sq ft learning space to 80,000 sq ft of learning environments across 4 locations.

WhyteHouse began with a simple belief: that children learn best when play, care, and strong foundations grow together. From a humble 2,000 sq ft beginning, we have grown into 80,000 sq ft of learning spaces across 4 locations, while staying grounded in the same child-centred purpose.

Over time, our work has expanded beyond the classroom through educator training, published resources, community engagement, and international collaboration, contributing to the broader early childhood landscape in Malaysia and beyond.

Today, WhyteHouse is a trusted preschool for children aged 2–6, a platform for educator development, a creator of children's and parenting resources, and an emerging education group preparing for its next chapter with the upcoming WhyteHouse Primary.

We remain grounded in our mission — to create environments where children experience the joy of learning, every day.

Philosophy & ecosystem

The four pillars of WhyteHouse ecosystem.

At WhyteHouse, learning happens through an ecosystem where environment, relationships, creativity, and family support one another.

01

Environment

"The walls of the classroom belong to our children."

Our classrooms are designed around children. Materials are within reach, spaces invite exploration, and the environment supports learning instead of controlling behaviour. When children feel ownership of their space, they grow more independent and confident.

02

Genuine Human Connections

"Relationships come first."

In the early years, relationship is the curriculum. Before children are ready to explore ideas, they need to feel safe, seen, and understood. Genuine human connection builds the trust that allows curiosity to unfold, resilience to develop, and confidence to grow.

03

WhyteHouse Creative Learning

"Children learn best when the process is joyful."

Our curriculum is written and reviewed by educators who work closely with children. Learning experiences are designed to connect with children's real lives, questions, and interests — covering knowledge, skills, dispositions, and feelings.

04

Community Outreach

"Beyond the classroom, into the community."

Since 2009 we've organised WhyteHouse-family events, international storytelling festivals, bursary programmes, and partnered with the Penang Botanic Gardens, KEMAS, MOE, and 20+ countries through publishing, conferences, and platform access.
